Monday Mantra: Balance

“Your hand opens and closes, opens and closes. If it were always a fist or always stretched open, you would be paralysed. Your deepest presence is in every small contracting and expanding, the two as beautifully balanced and coordinated as birds’ wings.”   – Rumi

So much love for Rumi! What a wise soul he was. I really dig this quote. It really highlights the counterbalance of “closed” and “open.” It’s nice to remember that there’s a relationship between the two and how it’s constantly shifting.

This is a great metaphor! I really love how simplistic this image is, yet it explains so much. We should never get stuck in on thing or in one aspect of life. Life is the palm opening and closing – it has highs and lows. But we can’t get stuck dwelling on either end of the spectrum. We must remain present in all of the intricacies between the two. That is truly living.
